Bridges and Partial
If you’re missing one or more teeth, you may notice a difference in chewing and speaking. A bridge or partial replace missing teeth with artificial teeth that serves to bridge the gap where one or more teeth used to be. At Oak Lane Family Dental, bridges can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials and are attached to surrounding teeth for support. No matter the type of bridge we recommend, its success depends on the foundation. It is very important to keep your remaining teeth healthy and strong as the bridge helps to restore function and your smile.
Removable Partial Dentures
Removable partial dentures usually consist of replacement teeth attached to pink or gum-colored plastic bases with or without metal underneath. Depending on your needs, Dr. Pippen or Dr. Watson will design a partial denture for you. A partial denture may have a metal framework and clasps that connect to your teeth or a more natural-looking tissue, colored base and clasps, depending on the patient’s individual circumstances and desires. During the consultation, we will help you decide which type is right for you.
Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and help restore your smile. If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from gum disease, tooth decay or injury, replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. Dentures make it easier to eat and speak better than you could without teeth, things that people often take for granted. At Oak Lane Dental we pride ourselves on comfort, support and fitting of your dentures that allow you to reform your smile at an economical cost. We design your dentures to create a natural look while maintaining the most comfortable and secure fit possible.
Dental Crowns are ideal for protecting a cracked, broken tooth or covering up tooth discolorations. The crown is a tooth shaped cap that fits over a problem tooth to improve strength, size and appearance. It is often used to help strengthen a tooth with a large filling when there is not enough tooth remaining to hold the filling. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, protect a weak tooth from breaking, or to restore one that is already broken.
First, we will anesthetize the problem tooth area. Once completely numb, the tooth is filed down so that the crown can fit the tooth. We then take an impression of the tooth to use in the construction of the crown. The impression is sent to our dental laboratory to create your crown. We apply a sturdy temporary crown over the problem tooth while your permanent crown is manufactured. Before you leave we will schedule a return visit to the Oak Lane Family Dental where the crown will be applied. It’s one more way we help you maintain a healthy-looking new tooth and a bright smile.
If staining and discoloration has caused you to hide your smile, Oak Lane Family Dental can help you get it back by brightening your teeth and revitalizing your smile. Tooth discoloration can be caused by many factors, including drinks and foods such as coffee, soda, tea, wine, berries, soy sauce and even tomato sauce. Tobacco use, both smoking and chewing tobacco, are also contributing factors to discolored teeth.
